Kim Collazo

I am a fifth grade teacher at Greenwood Elementary School in Sanford, NC. My passion lies in integrating technology in the classroom. I teach in a one-to-one laptop classroom called The Cove. The 2014-15 school year will be our sixth year immersed in a 1:1 netbook initiative.

I grew up in upstate Vermont (beautiful, but coooold!) and earned a BS in Psychology/Special Education. In December, 2008 I attained a Master's Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Science. I am National Board Certified, maintain licensure in Regular Ed K-6, Special Ed K-12, Gifted Ed K-12, and have been teaching 24 years. As a Kenan Fellow (2005), I have also worked with Dr. Len Annetta in the area of virtual gaming in Science. I have created Informational Text Reading and Writing Lessons for LearnZillion, and currently annotate children's ebooks for Curriculet

I am a Technology Integration Specialist for Bullitt County Schools. I currently serve Eastside Middle, Mt. Washington Middle, and Bullitt East High Schools. My main responsibilities are to introduce teachers to new technologies, help teachers integrate technology seamlessly into their lessons, conduct professional development workshops, and teach students new technology skills.

I hold a BS in middle school education math and social studies, Master's in Gifted Education K -12, middle school science certificate and Instructional Technology certification. This is my 24th year in education. I have taught 6th grade world geography, world history, 8th grade American history, 7th grade math, Pre-Algebra, and 7th grade science.
